The Salt Side was born from a personal longing.

Our founder, Julia Martinson, left the countryside of São Paulo chasing something deeper: a life close to the ocean, a slower rhythm, and a sense of meaning. She found it all in Florianópolis — an island in the south of Brazil where she started surfing and embraced a more intentional way of living. It didn’t take long to realize that her brand could be an extension of that lifestyle. 

In the same year she caught her first wave, she launched The Salt Side — not just to create better-fitting swimwear, but to encourage women to live more freely, more consciously, and more connected to what really matters.

This craving for meaning, nature, and freedom eventually led Júlia beyond the island of Floripa and into another salty destination: California. It was there that The Salt Side began its next chapter, bringing Brazilian soul and surf-inspired simplicity to a new coastline.

Today, The Salt Side has headquarters in both Brazil and the U.S. We’re growing with the tide, always staying true to our essence: bikinis that fit, a lifestyle that flows, and a community of seasters — free-spirited women choosing to live salty.

Our bikinis are handmade in Brazil, and U.S. orders are shipped from our California warehouse. We also ship to Canada and Europe. Enjoy!
